Born in the inner city of Chicago, Ron grew up in an unlikely place to produce a talented artist. However, after attending the American Academy of Art, Ron embarked on a career in commercial illustration, finding success from the start. His list of clients was soon dominated by prominent companies. He was honored with being chosen as the official artist for the 1980 Olympics for the United States. Commercial success continued for many years.
One Passion still overshadowed all the success, namely a passion to “reclaim the arts for Christ.” As a Christian since the age of 17, Ron concluded that Christians were not using everything in their arsenal to proclaim the Gospel. Not one to stay frustrated by that, he began to urge publishers and other artists to use their talents for the God who gave it to them.
That opportunity came to Ron in 1989 when he created the painting that started a revolution – “Spiritual Warfare.” God used that painting to inspire people around the world. Soon, other major paintings declaring the glory of God were done, and a new chapter had been ushered in.
In a world dominated by the visual realm, Ron considers himself a “Christian cleverly disguised as an artist” with the mission to usher in a Second Renaissance. With numerous major awards for both painting and writing, Ron continues to affect the world with the message of God’s grace. He has collaborated on over 50 book projects that have sold millions of copies, working with major authors such as Max Lucado, Randy Alcorn, Jerry Jenkins, Frank Peretti, and Joni Earackson Tada. It was through those associations, the award winning “Tell Me” series was born.
Ron has produced many murals, including four for the Assemblies of God. The “Resurrection Mural,” measuring twelve feet tall and forty feet wide at the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas and featured as one of their website’s audio tours, has been viewed by millions, and has been featured on CBN and multiple YouTube videos.
What began with a single painting years earlier, God has used the ensuing campaign to speak to the family of God all over the world. This continues today, as Ron recently collaborated with Broadstreet Publishing on a “visual Bible” entiled The Masterpiece Bible. Through all of the above, God has honored Ron’s desire to use his art for God’s kingdom that he asked for decades ago in art school.
Ron lives with his wife, Pat, in Temecula, California, where he continues to blaze new trails through his paintings and writings.
